It would be really useful & convenient to be able to configure a user defined static ip address.

It is one of the features that we're considering for the next firmware release.

What I do for this is to set a DHCP reservation based on the MAC address of the bluespray box.  Then you can assign a dedicated IP address to it and even register it in DNS if you wish.

I would also like to see configurable Static IP as well.

With IOT I think it becomes the easier way to manage a cutting edge household network.

It should just be an option, not mandatory.  Then opening ports is easier too.

Static IP address is in the plan for our next firmware release.

Most routers assigns dynamic IP address to all hosts on its network.  That is why you see it changing.  But setting a fixed IP address on your system isn't as simple as you think.  For example, if you assign your system to have a 192.168.0.10 address, but if you don't tell your router, the router might assign that IP address to another system and you'd have a collision of IP address on your network.  You must know what you're doing in order to use this.

Static IP address will be in 2.0
