Just putting this one up in case someone else sees the same problem.
I was unable to manually set duration because I'd get a "time" setting wheel instead of a "minute" setting wheel. I'd try to set it but it would end up with am/pm in the field. I reloaded the firmware (same 1.2 version, apparently) and the problem went away. I expect it to return.
