Does this controller have battery backup in case power goes down and it is in the stand alone mode?

There is no battery back up. The controller retains all settings even after power outage.
If in Internet mode, the controller will sync the time from the internet.
If in Stand alone mode, it will sync to the computer/phone when you connect to it.  You can tell if it doesn't have the right time with the amber light flashing.

It's permanent memory.  It'll be retained forever until you change it.
